What Happened When Almighty God Reveal Himself To Mosses At The Mount Of Horeb?
We thank God once again for giving us this day.
Brethren in this article, we are going to tackle the act of Moses, when Almighty God revealed Himself to him.
The old Testament will give us a deep understanding of this topic.
Brethren, Moses was born to Israel's people
and he was very good when it comes to culture.
Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law,
His name was Jethro, a priest of Midian.
Moses was sent to lead his flock to the
wilderness and he came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Suddenly, the angel of God appears to Him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush.
Moses stand still to look, the bush was burning but it was not consumed.
It surprised Moses so he turn aside and see this great sight to see why the bush is not burnt.
When Almighty God saw that, Moses has turn around to see what is going on,
Almighty God called Moses out of the bush and Moses replied "Here am I.
Lord replies do not come near, put off your shoes from your feet,
because the place you are standing is holy ground.
God continues to say, I am the God of your father,
the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
When Moses heard what the Lord was saying,
he hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
The Lord said to Moses, I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their master taskmasters;
I know their suffering and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land a good and broad land, a land flowering milk and honey to the place of the Canaanites,
the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
God described how Egyptian are treating his people to Moses and the cry of Israel has come to me.
Lord said to Moses come I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the sons of Israel out of Egypt.
Lord promised Moses that he will be with him, and this will be the sign that I have sent you.
God promised Moses that when they brought the people out of Egypt, they shall serve God upon this mountain.
Moses was afraid to send the message so he replied if I come to the people of Israel and say to them,
the God of your fathers has sent me to you and they ask me what is his name.
What shall I say to them?
God replied to Moses, say this to the people of Israel, I am has sent me to you.
The Lord continues to say this not saying,
the Lord, The God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob has sent me to you.
God said to Moses, Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them,
the Lord, the God of your father, the God of Abraham has appeared to me, saying,
I have observed you and what has been done to
you in Egypt and I promised that I will bring
you up out of the affliction of Egypt, to the land of the Canaanites,
the land flowing with milk and honey.
After God has made the promise to Moses,
Moses replied they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, the lord did not appear to you.
The Lord said to him, what is that in your hand?
Moses said a rod and Lord said cast it on the ground,
the rod became a serpent and Moses fled from it.
Moses was afraid so the lord said to him,
put out your hand, and take it by the tail.
Moses pick it up and suddenly it became a rod in his hand.
God did this for them to believe that he has sent Moses.
God did another wonder by saying, put your hand into your bosom, and when he took it out,
behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
God said to Moses, put your hand into your bosom, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh.
God did so many wonders for them to believe in him.
Moses said to the lord, Oh my lord, I am not eloquent since we started communicating but I am slow in speech and tongue.
The Lord said to Moses, who has made man's mouth? Who makes him dumb?
Is it not I the lord, now go and I will be with your mouth
and teach you what you shall speak.
But Moses said, oh my lord, send, another person,
and the anger of the lord was kindled against Moses.
God replies by saying, I know that your brother Aaron can speak well and he is coming out to meet you and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart.
You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth.
God promised Moses that, he will teach him what to do.
He will speak for you to the people and he shall be a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God.
After the lord has finished communicating with Moses, Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law, and ask permission to visit his kinsmen in Egypt and see whether they are alive.
Jethro replies to Moses, go in peace.
On his way to Egypt, God said to Moses,
go back to Egypt for all the men are dead who sought your life.
