Light of the word is a phrase Jesus used to describe himself and his disciples in the New Testament. As it is written " I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”. Jesus was described as the outer recognition of his Father's creation and presence and the inward dwelling of the holy spirit, by which we know our Father.

There are many reasons believers base on describing Jesus Christ as the light of the world, and this article will help us to identify some of the reasons;

In him was life:

Human life is God's manifest action in man and man's obedient response to God reverently rendered by his action toward his fellow men and together with them, toward the good of all creation. The scripture said," This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent”. God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his son. Whoever has the son has life, and whoever does not have the son of God does not have life.

In him was the way:

It is heard as good news because it announces that through Jesus Christ one may relate rightly to God, and it provides impetus for mission because it is a message to be shared obedient to God is not only a way to worship him but a way to get closer to him, prepare for whatever he leads you and grow as a person. Knowing the way of Christ gives wisdom and understanding. 

In his was the truth:

Jesus said to the news who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”. The value of the truth is also seen in what it can do, or its efficacy.
