In the beginning, was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was at the beginning with God, all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
In him was life, and life was the light of men. I believe many people know who am I describing. Jesus Christ has been called the son of Christ for many reasons but lets us discuss the reason why he was sent to the world.
When God created everything and handed it to humans, the devil used some strategy to conquer humans to win many souls for his kingdom. But Almighty has been good to us to the extent he has sent his only begotten son to deliver us from the hands of the devil.
The story of Stephen will help us to understand this topic very well and we will take it from the book of Acts.
When the disciples were increasing in number, the Hellenists murmured against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. The twelve summoned the body of the disciples and said, it is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Brethren, pick it out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this duty.
But we will devote ourselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. What they said pleased the whole multitude and they chose some of the disciples. They set before the apostles, and they prayed and
Laid their hands upon them.
The word of God increased, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.
Then some of those who belonged t the synagogue of the Freedmen and the Cyrenians and those from Cilicia and Asia arose and disputed with Stephen. But they could not withstand the wisdom and the spirit with which he spoke.
They secretly instigated men, who said, we have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God. They stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes, and they came upon him and seized him and brought him before the council, and set up false witnesses who said, This man never ceases to speak words against this holy place and the law, for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.
While gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel. The high priest said, is this so?
Stephen said, Brethren and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia before he lived in Haran, and said to him, Depart from your land and your kindred and go into the land which I will show you.
He departed from the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran. After his father died, God removed him from there into this land in which
you are now living, yet he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot length, but promised to give it to his possession and his posterity after him, though he had no child.
God spoke to this effect, that his posterity would be aliens in a land belonging to others, who would enslave them and ill-treat them for four hundred years. But I will judge the nations which they serve, said God, and after that, they shall come out and worship me in this place.
He gave him the covenant of circumcising him on the right day, and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.
The patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt but God was with him, and rescued him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, King of Egypt, who made him governor over Egypt and all his household.
There came a famine throughout all of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction, and our fathers could find no food. But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers for the first time.
On the second visit, Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to the pharaoh. Jacob went down into Egypt. And he died, himself and our fathers.
As the time of the promise drew near, which God had granted to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt till there arose over Egypt another king who had not known Joseph. He dealt crafting with our race and forced our fathers to expose their infants so that they might not be kept alive.
At this time Moses was born and was beautiful before God. He was brought up for three months in his father's house, and when he was exposed, the pharaoh's daughter adopted him and brought him up as her son.
This Moses whom they refused, saying, who made you a ruler and a judge?
God sent as both ruler and delivered by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush. He led them out, having performed wonders and signs in Egypt and at the Red sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.
This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, God will raise for you a prophet from your brethren as he raised me. This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him at mount Sinai, and with our fathers, and he received living oracles to give to us.
Our father refused to obey him, but thrust him aside, and in their hearts they turned to Egypt, saying to Aaron, make for us gods to go before us, as for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.
But God turned and gave them over to Worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets.
Did you offer to me slain beast and sacrifices, forty years in the wilderness?
You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the holy spirit. As your father did.
Beloved, this was how Stephen compare the life of Moses to Jesus Christ. Let continually visits these sites for more updates.
