Joseph And The Prisoners.

Brethren, please today Is a great day because God has given us another opportunity to share his word.

Let all rejoice in the lord.

Brethren please we are going to have some discussion about Joseph and the prisoners.

The book of Genesis 40:1-23 will help us to discuss well of this topic.

Joseph was sent to prison when Potiphar's wife decided to lie with him.

When Potiphar heard the words which his wife told him, Potiphar took him and put him in the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined.

Joseph got favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison because the lord was with him.

The keeper of the prison committed to Josephs's care all the prisoners were in the prison and whatever was done there, he was the door to it.

The keeper of the prison paid no heed to anything that was in Joseph's care because the lord was with him and whatever he did.

After some time, the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended the king.

King Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief butler, and the chief baker and he put them in custody in the house of the Captain of the guard where Joseph was confined.

One night they both dreamed, of the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt who was confined in the prison.

In the morning, Joseph saw them, they were trouble.

Joseph asks pharaoh officers who were with him in custody in his master's house.
Why are your faces downcast today
They reply, we have had dreams and there is no one to interpret them.

Joseph said to them, "do not interpretation belongs to God ”? Tell them to me.

The chief butler told Joseph, in my dream, there was a vine before me, and on the vine, there were three branches, as soon as it budded its blossoms shot, and the clusters ripen into grapes.

Pharaoh's cup was in my hand and I took the grapes and pressed them into the pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in the pharaoh's hand.

Joseph replies by saying, this is its interpretation, the three branches are three days, within three days Pharaoh will lift your head and restore you to your office and you shall place the pharaoh's cup in his hand as formerly when you were his butler.

Joseph told him to remember him, when it is well with you, and do me the kindness because I was stolen out of the land of the Hebrews and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head, and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head.

Joseph replies by saying, the three baskets are three days, within three days Pharaoh will lift your head from you and hang you on a tree and the bird will eat the flesh from you.

On the third day, which was the pharaoh's birthday, he made a feast for all his servants
and lifted the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

He restores the position of the chief butler but he hangs the chief baker.

Brethren, please the story of Joseph and the prisoners have thought us so many moral lessons.
