God did not give Christians his spirit and grace so they can struggle to overcome sin by keeping a list of rules in their own strength. God grace was given to us so that he can empower us to overcome sin and live godly lives. Overcoming sin begins with accepting what God the father had done in our lives through Jesus Christ. We cannot become holy on our own but God gives us his spirit to help us obey his word. In order to overcome sin, we have to observe the points below;

Pray for the holy spirit conviction and help:

The conviction of sin is when the holy spirit reveals an area of sin for which we need to confess and repent. Conviction leads us to run to God for grace and forgiveness. Through the conviction and power of the Holy spirit, believers will not indulge the sinful acts of the flesh but will bear the good fruit of the spirit.

Practice regular confession:

Regularly confessing our sin and seeking forgiveness from God demonstrates we desire to have continuous, unhindered fellowship with God. Everyone sins and needs Gods forgiveness through Jesus Christ to establish a relationship with God.

Memorize Scripture:

Meditating means to mumble aloud to oneself, and essentially, that's what we are doing when we memorize scripture. We mumble the words aloud to ourselves over and over. Memorizing Scripture gives us a better understanding of God and his will.

Meditate on the cross:

Every time look at the cross we remember what our lord had to endure to grant us salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God to us, and the main purpose of the Incarnation was for our lord to save us. He became man, suffered, shed blood, and died on the cross only to save us.
