God's word never returns void. We do not read the Bible solely to be changed people but we do become changed people as we read the Bible. God uses his word to renew our minds, conforms us to the likeness of his son, point out our sin, and guide us in his truth. And the more time we spend reading the Bible the stronger our identity in Christ becomes. When we walk confidently in our identity, we can love and forgive others, and our gifts and mission become clear.

It protects us from temptation:

The Bible offers us countless promises of protection. These promises remind us of God's care for us and His power over evil, and they can bring comfort and hope when we face difficult circumstances. Many times, God works in ways that we do not understand. Sometimes God's protection comes in the form of peace and strength in the middle of despair.
