Peter was one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus. Roman Catholic tradition holds that Jesus established st. Peter as the first pope. Jesus also gave him the keys of the kingdom of heaven. By following jesus instructions, he acted supernaturally.

Peter proved at that moment that he did want to remain only an admirer of jesus. He showed that he was also prepared to obey him with a loving faith. Peter was special because;

Jesus gave him the keys of heaven:

According to the scripture, "jesus says ro peter, i will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven".

Peter was identified as the rock upon which he will build his church:

Jesus pronounced a blessing upon peter and proclaimed peter answer as having been derived by divine inspiration. As it is writen, " And i tell you, you are peter, and on this rock i will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it".
