Christian believes that jesus death on the cross was no ordinally death. It can be compared to a sacrifices. Jesus was punished for all the things that sinful humanity has done wrong so they could receive forgiveness from God. While the disciples were thinking about the death of Christ, mary magdalene, and mary the mother of james, and salome, bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

Every early on the first day of the week they went to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they were saying to one another, who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the tomb?
And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back, it was very large. And outering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed.

They went out and fled from the tomb, for trmbling and astonishment had come upon them, and they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid. When jesus arose from the dead, he appear first to Mary magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

He appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country, but they did not believe them. He appeared to the eleven themselves as they sat at table, and he upbraided them for their unbelief and hardness of heart.
